Giant Jots

Giant Jots

Students are jotting about what they are reading. They use the thinking stems "What I think," "What I wonder," "What I find interesting," "What I feel," "What I connect with," and "What strategies I'm using." Students construct 4 jots a day using these stems. Jots are a great way to see what kids are thinking. This gives them the opportunity of interacting more deeply with the text. The giant sticky notes can be found at Staples. They are incredibly sticky and incredibly fun!

Here students are working on constructing a Giant Jot. In groups of 4, students shared the jot they felt demonstrated their best thinking about a common text. They then collaborated to create one giant jot for our wall. This provides a resource for students to use when jotting.
